It was 6 p.m when Heather walked up to the Pavillion at the creek. She had only been back in town for two monthes. And pretty much her old "crew" have either moved on with their lives and were totally different or had moved away. And Heather seemed to be having a hard time dealing with it. They were one of the reasons why she came back to live on her own out here. If she would've known it was going to be like this, she would have stayed in Seattle. Heather lit a Camel Crush and pressed the menthol ball on the filter. She took her pink lighter out of her back pocket and lit it after she brought the cigarette between her lips. After propping herself up on one of the railings, she took a puff of her cigarette.

Brock was sitting on rock near the creek, writing lyrics in his notebook. He liked coming to the creek in the evening because for the most part it was always empty. He loved that he had the whole place to himself, and enjoyed sitting and either playing his guitar or writing lyrics to the sound of the flowing body of water. He sighed and looked up from his notebook, unaware that anyone else was around.

Heather quietly puffed her cigarette. Looking down at the wooden floor of the pavillion. The sun had started to set. Leaving the sky a mix of purples and orange hues. She'd heard lots of rumors about this place at night. But had never stayed long enough to find out if there was any truth to it. Heather was just as clueless to his presence as he was to hers.

Brock sighed, rubbing his temples. He had a mean case of writers block, and was getting nowhere with his lyrics. He slammed his notebook shut and stood, lifting his arms above his head as he stretched. He dug around in his pockets for his cigarettes, taking one out and lighting it. He took a long drag before gathering his notebook and messenger bag and heading out to the main path back to his car.

"What the fuck," Heather mumbled under her breath once she heard the slam of the notebook. She quickly took a look around but didn't see anyone. Not even an animal. She figured that maybe she was just imagining things. Given the reputation of the place. She took another drag of her cigarette as she looked around expecting someone to appear.

Brock walked out from behind the bushes that had been concealing him. He was looking at the ground and didn't catch sight of Heather at first. He walked up the path and suddenly he ran into someone. He stumbled back, surprised. He looked up and saw a girl standing there. He gave a sigh of relief, "Fuck! You scared the shit out of me lady."

Heather hopped off from the railing before Brock revealed himself. She wanted to be standing just in case it was a crazy person and she needed to get a quick get away. Heather didn't notice him coming either. She was staring off into another direction when the collision happened. Heather quickly turned in his direction. Ready for a fight. Only to find, a teenage boy standing in front of her. Telling her that she scared him. "I scared you? You fucking scared me. What the hell, man. I thought you were some freako," Heather replied.

Brock looked at Heather like she was a little crazy for a second, but then gave her a lopsided grin. He ran a hand through his shaggy hair, "And how do you know I'm not just some 'freako', only disguised as a handsome teenage boy to lure young women like yourself to danger?" he asked jokingly, wiggling his eyebrows.

Heather dropped her cigarette and put it out with the tip of her white Vans flats. She then shifted her weight to the right leg as she furrowed her brow to his comment. "See normally that response would creep me out. But... thing is.. I've seen you at school. So it doesn't really fly with me," Heather replied with her usual snarky attitude.

Brock laughed, "Good point. So what grade you in? I don't remember seeing you around school." He said, ignoring Heather's snippy attitude.

"I'm a senior. And that might be because I just moved back to town not too long ago," Heather replied. She noticed how he didn't react to her attitude like most people did. Most people would've backed away. But not this guy. Instead he continued to talk to her. Which was a surprise. Heather wasn't too easy to be around. Unless it was company just like her.

Brock nodded, taking a long drag off of his cigarette. He looked back up at her, "Ah, I see. So what brings you back to this shitty town?" he asked curiously. He liked that this girl was kinda fiesty, he never liked talking to girly girl types, they pissed him off.

Heather tucked a few strands of her dirty blonde hair behind her ear before replying. "I don't know why. As much as this place sucks, I used to think that there was a few things around here that were pretty alright," she shrugged. She came back for Kris. But that didn't quite work out. She came back for her friends. But they're all lame now.

Brock nodded as she spoke. He took a drag of his cigarette and exhaled before replying, "Well, from the way it sounds you're not too happy to be back." he took another drag off of his cigarette, "I'm Brock, by the way." he said as he exhaled.

"Eh, I'll deal with it," Heather shrugged in reply. She had her ways with making this town more interesting and fun for her. It just was taking longer than it usually would have. Guess she's lost a bit of her touch. "Heather," she nodded.
